Overview

The Challenge

A comprehensive institutional identity developed for CATI RDC, translating its mission into a distinctive logo, clear brand guidelines and a flexible system for official, editorial and public-facing communications.

The Centre d’Appui à la Technologie et à l’Innovation, CATI RDC, is a strategic public structure connected to the Ministry of Industry of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its mission is to promote innovation, encourage the adoption of technology and support the protection of intellectual property.

Qualia was commissioned to translate this mandate into a distinctive and structured visual identity. The objective was to create more than a standalone logo: CATI needed a complete system capable of supporting its institutional role and its relationships with innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and partners.

The logo combines several ideas within a single construction. Circuit-inspired lines evoke technology and connected systems, while the light-based element represents ideas, discovery and innovation. These symbols are integrated into a clear institutional signature designed to remain recognizable across different environments.

The broader identity system includes a coordinated color palette, typographic hierarchy, responsive logo configurations, monochrome versions and detailed application rules. These standards protect the consistency of the brand while allowing it to adapt to both formal and contemporary communication.

The identity was applied across presentations, letterheads, invitations, reports, publications, stationery, credentials, event backdrops, podiums, banners, directional signage, branded objects and vehicle graphics. Together, these applications created one coherent visual language for CATI’s institutional and public-facing communications.

The Solution

One identity, built for every institutional touchpoint

Qualia designed CATI RDC’s logo and developed a complete visual identity system covering its construction, configurations, colors, typography and application principles.

The identity was then extended across institutional documents, presentations, publications, event environments, stationery, credentials, signage, branded objects and mobility applications.

The resulting guidelines provide CATI with a consistent framework for maintaining recognition and visual quality across every communication touchpoint.

  • Logo architecture and institutional lockups.
  • Four adaptable logo configurations, including compact and icon versions.
  • Primary, secondary and monochrome color systems.
  • Typographic hierarchy for institutional and editorial communication.
  • Clear-space, proportion, contrast and misuse guidelines.
  • Templates for presentations, letters, invitations and publications.
  • Event applications including podiums, backdrops, banners and X-stands.
  • Directional signage and public visibility materials.
  • Stationery, credentials, email signatures and branded objects.
  • Vehicle livery and mobility applications.

One coherent visual language connecting CATI’s institutional and public-facing communications.

The completed system gave CATI RDC a coherent institutional presence across its principal communication environments.

From formal documents and publications to event spaces, signage, branded objects and vehicle applications, the identity remains recognizable while adapting naturally to different formats and scales.

By connecting technological symbolism with institutional clarity, the project established a flexible visual foundation for CATI’s communication with government stakeholders, innovators, entrepreneurs and strategic partners.
